Mr. Clayton was a boss in the episode "Dead Right".
Early Life[]
Cathy worked as a secretary for Mr. Clayton. One day, she returned from lunch late and one of her coworkers remarked Mr. Clayton will be upset. Cathy replied that "that asshole is on a business trip", to which a man's voice is heard offstage remarking "Actually Miss Finch, that "asshole's" business trip was cancelled". Cathy is mortified she called her boss an obscene word, but Mr. Clayton brushes it off, saying he is thick-skinned enough to take it ("and Heaven knows I sometimes deserve to be called that"). He is not angry at the insult, but rather that Cathy exceeded her time allowance for lunch and is terminated. Although shocked by this, Cathy did not appreciate her job as a secretary. While walking on the street, a waitress has an argument with the owner of a strip joint and walks off the job. The owner sarcastically shouts to the girl that he may have to close up shop, and to prove how easily replaceable she is, hires Cathy on the spot. Cathy is shocked by this turn of events, as a fortune teller told her she would lose her job with Mr. Clayton and find a new one shortly thereafter, causing Cathy to think the clairvoyant is not a fake.
