Devlin Cates is the main character of the Tales from the Crypt episode "The Thing from the Grave". A photographer who fell in love with one of his models, Devlin was killed by the model's abusive boyfriend and came back as a zombie to protect her.
Early Life[]
One of his top models, Stacy with a very nervous an abusive agent/boyfriend named Mitch Bruckner. When Devlin offers her refuge in his home from her terror, they ultimately fall in love and gives her a special maya necklace as symbol of love and also promises her that he'd protect her no matter what.
When Mitch learns of this, he goes into a rage, lures Devlin out to a secluded cabin and shoots him, before burying him.
Post-Death[]
Six days later, Mitch tried to persuade a worried and unsuspecting Stacy that Devlin was in a relationship with other models. Stacy goes to Devlin's home and rules that he must've been murdered, as all of his photography gear is on the table. When she listens Devlin's answering machine, she is attacked and kidnapped by Mitch. After tying her to the bedposts, Mitch tell Stacy that he had killed Devlin and buried him near the house, and then attempts to rape her. However, the dead Devlin rises from the grave and forces his way into the house, attacks Mitch, and takes him back to the spot where he was buried. Stacy had comprehension that his lover had protect her no matter what.
